…but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Last week something happened which shocked me and changed the way I looked at online dating forever…

I’d gone to visit an old friend of mine who I’ve known since high school, but because of his job he lives quite far away so we hadn’t seen each other for about 2 years. Back in our school days, he was a bit of a nice guy. He had a lot of friends and was a super cool guy, but he didn’t really get any chicks. Anyway, I arrive at his place to see a smoking hot chick putting her coat on getting ready to leave (I hope I hadn’t interrupted anything? – lol). I was very impressed, she had silky blonde hair, nice cleavage (:D) and a great figure. He greeted me pretty cheerfully and then briefly introduced us to each other, before walking her out.

After coming back in and catching up with each other for a good half hour, I mentioned the girl that was at his place when I arrived, saying something to the effect of: “I’m impressed, I never knew you could pull girls like that”.

That’s when he dropped the bombshell, (well it felt like that for me anyway). Quite casually, he said: “oh thanks, I met her on the internet”.

I swear I almost spat out my drink in suprise: “wait, what??”

When I said I had a stereotype about people that used online dating sites, I didn’t say it in vain. I couldn’t believe it, it made no sense, why would an attractive girl like that use an online dating site? I played it cool, but it was pretty obvious I was quite suprised.

He told me he met her on an adult dating website called Sex In The UK. Apparently, this site caters not just to people looking for a relationship, but as the title suggests, also to the swinger community (and apparently nympho’s too, but don’t quote me on that). My friend told me he’d been using the website for just under a year now and had met 11 women. He also told me he hadn’t had much success with other dating websites, saying the male:female ratio is far too disproportionate, with men outnumbering women 3:1 in almost all the adult dating websites out there.

While this was all very interesting to hear, I couldn’t help but think if Sex In The UK was an escort service in disguise. I didn’t want to offend my friend by suggesting this, and to be honest, given the company’s clean track record and time in service, I very much doubt this would be the case anyway.

It’s funny how in a single night I had my perception of online dating changed for good. When I got back home that night the first thing I did was go to the Sex In The UK website and sign up. - While talking, he would lean in. This is a bad habit. It makes you look like you need her company. If anything, lean slightly back – you’ll look more in control.

To put it bluntly, he was acting like a needy little pussy. By looking like an approval-seeking pussy, you damage your chances with women. I mean, you might as well just castrate yourself, because there’s nothing attractive about needy, insecure guys.

Follow these rules and be like this guy... just less douchy... and with hotter chicks.

DON’T creep anyone out. If you’ve spotted a hot chick, by all means make eye contact, but don’t make it last longer than 3 seconds. If a girl feels like you’re stalking/watching/staring at her, she’ll get creeped out and wont be able to get comfortable around you when you eventually approach her. DO establish very brief eye contact if you must, but most importantly, when you see something you like, either take action fast and approach, or ignore her until you do decide to approach. If she catches you looking at her, she will also get the impression that your lacking in confidence (which would be true) and that you don’t have the balls to approach her.

DON’T approach women from behind. I’ve had far too many female friends let me in on this one. It makes them feel uncomfortable and cautious. DO get close to them first without looking like you’re there just to talk to them, and then approach from the side.

DON’T look bored. I like to hit the clubs with my buddies. I know there are some guys (especially in the pick up scene) that go alone, but that’s not my style and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to you, especially since you’re reading a blog post on how to pick up girls at clubs. DO have fun. When I go I always have all my focus and attention on my boys. Whether it’s on the dancefloor or at the bar, I’m laughing and cracking jokes with my boys, completely disregarding everyone else around me. By doing this, women take notice and see that even though there are hot chicks all around, I find my own friends far more interesting. What this does is elevate my social value to any woman who happens to notice me, or who I happen to approach on that night. Because I’ve already established my reputation as a funloving, confident guy with friends and lack of neediness for women, I become a prospect before I even open my mouth. Contrast this with the other guys you find at clubs that stand around like losers, not talking, not smiling, holding a beer in one hand, and often just looking at chicks and staring at any hot ones that pass by. These guys NEVER get girls because they look like losers. Do you know the kind of guys I’m talking about? Maybe you’re already one of them. If you are, then stop. When at the club, smile and have a great time with your friends. It will give you greater success when you eventually approach a girl.

DON’T look average or lame. If you look messy, or if you’re clothes suck, people get the impression that you don’t have much self respect. DO stand out and be unique, and look presentable. Wear something unique and distinctive to stand out. It might be an item of clothing or an accessory. It can be something as simple as a necklace with an unusual pendant, or something more bold like an extravagant hat. As long as you look confident and comfortable, you’ll pull it off. Stand around like a loser and you’ll look like a douche. The great thing about wearing something distinctive is that it’s a great conversation starter. I once wore a large metallic inverted pentagram pendant on my necklace to a nightclub. I thought it looked pretty cool, and the symbol has a rich philosophy behind it which I happen to share. It was unusually large but it did the trick, I got a lot of attention because it isn’t something you often see at a normal nightclub. Once you’ve approached a woman in the club I like to begin with talking and joking, and I like to touch her hands and arms when I say something that I know is going to get a reaction out of her. If things get heated and you end up making out with the girl in the club, go all the way and invite her back to your place. If she says no be cool with it, but don’t give up. Give her reasons why coming back to your place would be fun for her. Tell her about something awesome at your place, like a cool aquarium with tropical fish or your new italian tiles in your kitchen, whatever you say give the impression that you have a nice place worth coming to. Because she doesn’t want to feel like a slut, she will be more comfortable coming to your place on some lame excuse like seeing your tropical fish, which she will give herself when you end up having sex at your place.

A quick word of warning, if you’ve made out at the club and she doesn’t want to go back to your place don’t expect anything to happen if you get her number. The following day she’ll likely feel bad about making out with you on the same night without even knowing you. Also, some girls go to clubs just to have fun and making out is acceptable for them – however these girls often don’t have sex with the guys they make out at clubs with.
